Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Refocus ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Refocus iOS app, the website (refocus.co.in), and the product (dashboard.refocus.co.in).

Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you use Refocus:

Account information: name, email address, username, and a user ID. If you create a password, we store it as a secure hash. If you use Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier those services share, plus the name and email you allow (Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your real email).
Profile photo: only if you choose one. On iPhone, that uses the photo library permission.
Content you create: messages, community posts, session requests, and check-in notes.
Sessions: bookings, start and end times, who joined, and whether you completed a session. This is product activity tied to your account.
Camera and microphone: only while you are in a live focus session, so your partner can see and hear you. We do not turn them on outside a session. Live video and audio are carried by Daily.co.
Push notifications: if you allow them, we store a device push token so we can send session and account alerts you opted into.
Device and technical data: device type, operating system, app version, and approximate location derived from your IP address, used to run and secure the service.
Product analytics: screens you open and actions you take in the app and on the website, linked to your account, through PostHog. The website also uses cookies and Google Analytics.

How we use your information

To create your account and sign you in.
To match you into focus sessions and run chat, friends, and community.
To place live video sessions and send the notifications you allow.
To send account and verification email.
To understand how the product is used and to fix problems.
To keep the service secure, moderate abuse, and enforce our Terms.

Tracking and advertising

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising, and the iOS app does not use Apple's advertising identifier.

Who can see your information

People you choose: session partners, friends, and community audiences can see the profile and content you share with them.
Service providers, who process data for us to run Refocus: MongoDB Atlas (database), Google Firebase and Google Sign-In, Apple (Sign in with Apple), Daily.co (live video), Resend (email), Ably (realtime messaging), Vercel and Cloudflare (hosting), PostHog (product analytics), and Google Analytics (website analytics).
Legal and safety: if the law requires it, or to protect users and the service.

Cookies

The website uses cookies for authentication and analytics. Because refocus.co.in and dashboard.refocus.co.in share sign-in, an authentication cookie is scoped to .refocus.co.in. You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking some of them can affect sign-in.

Account deletion and retention

You can delete your account yourself:

In the iOS app: Settings → Danger zone → Delete account.
On the website: Settings → Delete account.

Deletion removes your profile from the product, including friendships and your place in sessions. We may keep a limited record — such as the email on the account and safety logs — to prevent abuse and meet legal duties. Copies can also remain in backups for a limited time.

If you cannot open the app, email hello@refocus.co.in from the address on the account and ask us to delete it.

Your rights

You may access, correct, or delete your personal data, and you can export it by asking us. Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR or India's DPDP Act), you may have additional rights. Email hello@refocus.co.in to use them.

Children

Refocus is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, email hello@refocus.co.in and we will delete it.

International processing

We and our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States and India. We use this data only as described in this policy.

Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date above will change, and when a change is material we will also tell you in the app or by email.
